Twenty years ago, Thygesen began a chapter in Vietnam with more than a business ambition. When our Board of Directors first arrived in Yen Lap, they wondered a simple question: “If we build our factory here, how can we bring a meaningful difference to this land and its people?”
That question has stayed with us throughout our journey in Vietnam. It has shaped not only how we have grown, but also how we define responsible business, how we work with people, and how we look towards the future.
Today, as we prepare to open our New Thygesen Sewing Factory, we look back on the journey that brought us here, the values that have guided us along the way, and the next chapter that lies ahead.
From Denmark to Vietnam: The Milestones That Shaped Our Journey
Our story began long before Vietnam. In 1931, Thygesen Textile Group was founded in Ikast, Denmark, building a textile heritage that has now grown for more than 90 years.
We began our journey in Vietnam in September 2004 as Thygesen Fabrics Vietnam Company Ltd., with our first facility in Vinh Tuy Industrial Zone, Hanoi; then relocated to Hung Yen Province on 10th August 2009 with knitting factory – a milestone we chose to mark as our company’s official birthday.
Seven years later, in 2016, our first garment sewing factory was built in Phu Tho, marking an important step in expanding our manufacturing capabilities.
As our presence in Vietnam continued to grow, we opened our headquarters in Hanoi in 2018, bringing our teams closer to our customers and supporting the development of a more complete manufacturing operation.
Now, in 2026, another important milestone is taking shape: the New Thygesen Sewing Factory.
From a 90 m² production facility in Ikast, Denmark, to a 15,500 m² factory in Vietnam, the scale of our operations has changed significantly. From our first sewing machines to a more modern production system, our capabilities have continued to develop with the needs of our partners.
But the distance between these moments is measured in more than years, buildings, or production capacity. It is measured in challenges, hard work, learning, and the people who kept believing, improving, and building along the way.
And through all these milestones, one thing has remained at the foundation of our journey: our core values.
20 Years of Growth, One Foundation
The past two decades have brought change. We have grown in scale, expanded our capabilities, welcomed new people, worked with new partners, and adapted to a constantly changing manufacturing landscape.
There have also been challenges. There have been moments when taking a shortcut may have seemed easier. But growth, for us, has never been only about how much we can produce or how quickly we can move forward.
It is also about how we choose to grow.
Our values of Persistence, Compassion, Truthfulness, Kindness, and Commitment have remained the foundation of how we work and how we make decisions.

The Values That Guide Our Next Chapter
Today, we are entering another important chapter with the opening of the New Thygesen Sewing Factory.
Covering a total area of 15,500 m², the new factory is designed to support an estimated workforce of 1,500 employees and up to 50 sewing lines. This increased capacity will allow us to support more production while maintaining consistent quality standards for our global partners.
The scale may change. The journey may take us further. But our core values of Persistence, Compassion, Truthfulness, Kindness and Commitment remain the foundation of everything we do. And as a new chapter begins with new factory, they will continue to guide every step we take towards the future. Because we believe that staying true to ethical principles is the only way to build a truly sustainable business.
